An independent expert council has announced 85 veteran business projects that will receive funding from the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation based on the results of the “Start Your Own Business” competition.
According to the terms of the competition, the amount of funding for the participants will range from UAH 500 thousand to UAH 1.5 million.
“This year we have a record number of applications for the competition — 219. Accordingly, we have a record number of winners — 85 veteran business projects. We congratulate all the winners and wish them the inspiration to accomplish their projects to the fullest. For those veterans who plan to participate in the competition, we remind you that we will announce updates on the launch of the new “VARTO” competition on the website of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation and in social media,” says Ruslana Velychko-Tryfoniuk, Acting Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation.
Veteran business projects in farming and craft production are among the winners
Among this year’s winners are many projects implemented in the areas of farming, medicine, craft production, and car repair shops. The full list of winners is available on our website.
It should be noted that projects were submitted by representatives of 22 oblasts and the capital of Ukraine. Among the record-breaking regions in terms of the number of applications submitted:
Lviv Oblast — 27 applications;
Kharkiv Oblast — 24 applications;
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast — 21 applications.
Veterans, spouses of veterans, their parents, children, and families of deceased defenders can participate in the VARTO competition. Importantly, the business must be officially registered as an individual entrepreneur or legal entity.
Over the past two years, the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation has supported 573 veterans’ businesses. More than UAH 293 million has been allocated to the winners of the Foundation’s VARTO competition programs.
