#CallsignUkraine
#CallsignUkraine is a joint art project of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the artist Nikita Titov.
The project was dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine in 2022. It shows and tells society the stories of those who stand in defense of Ukraine.
These are people of various professions — men and women who were teachers, drivers, programmers, but today they defend Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces. The project is dedicated to those who are not military personnel. However, they came to the defense of their country, abandoning their civilian lives.
As part of the project, Nikita Titov creates thematic drawings with various professions of people in civilian life. Everyone can recognize themselves, their neighbor, a classmate or a barista from your favorite coffee shop
For example, educators who raised and taught children in kindergartens every day chose to wear military uniforms with a full-scale invasion.
Titov has already drawn illustrations of directors, cooks, minibus drivers, teachers, students, coaches, public activists and many others. Currently, he continues to create drawings.
As part of the project, metroboards were created that Kyiv residents and guests of the capital could see in the capital’s subway.
And in social networks, a flash mob of the same name was launched – using the artist’s illustrations, Ukrainians told the stories of civilians who stood up to defend their country
Based on the project, a street exhibition #CallsignUkraine was held on Svobody Square in Kharkiv.
In addition, the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan opened an exhibition of posters based on the drawings of Nikita Titov on the occasion of the Day of The Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022.
The exhibition was presented in front of the entrance to the Embassy of Ukraine in Tokyo until the end of 2022.
The project also attracted the attention of international organizations — the US non-governmental organization Atlantic Council noted that “such initiatives reflect the growing awareness that the fate of Ukraine’s rapidly growing veteran community will help determine the future of the country for decades to come.”
