The Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, together with the artist Nikita Titov, is launching the media project #позивнийУкраїна. Within its framework, the organisers plan to show and tell the public the stories of those who stand in defence of Ukraine.
Currently, the Ukrainian army has people of various professions, not just military personnel. Men and women who yesterday were teachers, drivers, programmers, today defend Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces.
“We want to dedicate a series of images to Independence Day. Today, hundreds of thousands of people are fighting for independence at the front. Someone five months, someone a week, someone nine years. All of them left their usual lives and took a military oath. Our society and the world community should know the history of our defenders. Each of their small stories is a part of the big story being written today,” say the organisers.
On the pages of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, Nikita Titov’s thematic drawings with various professions of people in civilian life will be published. Everyone can recognize themselves, their neighbour, a classmate or a barista from their favourite coffee shop.
“Ukrainian defenders are not only professional soldiers, but ordinary people of various professions who put on military uniforms because they stand for their land and world values. We will show a series of images with the stories of our fighters that the whole world can try on. To understand what it’s like when just yesterday you were a barista, bus driver, activist or businesswoman, and today you understand how a bayraktar works,” adds Nataliya Kalmykova, executive director of the foundation.
The organisers invite you to join the project and, using the hashtag #позивнийУкраїна, publish your own stories or stories about your loved ones, friends, work colleagues who went to defend Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces.
The project is about people who bring victory closer. And while the military is making history today, the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation is worried about their tomorrow.
