Projects aimed at supporting veterans in employment were presented by the participants of the press conference “Victory in civilian life: opportunities for veterans on the path to professional growth.”
“Veteran is not about benefits. A veteran must be a man of opportunity. That is why we at the Ukrainian Veterans Fund are working to provide these opportunities: employment, career guidance. We understand that combat experience changes the values of fighters and new competencies appear in them, which must be properly used in civilian life. Veterans have a strong base of skills in stress resistance, teamwork, and project management. However, now about 30% of veterans are unemployed, the reasons for this are different. But one of the important things is that it is psychologically uncomfortable for veterans to return to their previous job,” says Karina Doroshenko, deputy executive director of the Ukrainian Veterans’ Fund.
Тhe manual “How to achieve career success after military service”
During the event, the manual “How to achieve career success after military service” was also presented. Oleksandr Kuklyshyn, the co-author of the guide, head of the NGO “Green Belt”, said that the guide contains recommendations and tools that will help defenders returning to civilian life to decide on their future career and its step-by-step implementation.
“A veteran is looking for an entry point into civilian life, he needs a place where he can get all the information. Such a place is the veteran space. “Veterans HUB Odesa” emphasizes the need to increase the competitiveness of veterans in the labor market, as well as to promote the development of their own veterans’ cause,” says Oleksandr Holopotelyuk, Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Veterans HUB Odesa”.
The Ukrainian Veterans Fund, with the support of partners, is systematically working on a number of projects related to the employment of veterans and their relatives. In particular, the selection of applications for participation in the training and employment program “Together” is underway, which is implemented by the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo” together with the Ukrainian Veterans Fund with the support of Lobby X, Veteran Hub and The Israel Trauma Coalition (ITC). All details of the program are on the website at the link: https://ua.energy/together.html
And recently, we completed the selection of participants for a free course on OSINT analytics for veterans from the Royal Institute of Defense Studies in London and the Center for Defense Reforms in Kyiv. As part of this project, veterans will undergo specialized training and will be able to receive job offers in the field of OSINT investigations.
