TOP 5 patriotic books from a veteran publishing house

Thinking about what to read or looking for a gift for a loved one? Do you like to immerse yourself in the pages of a book and then discuss the plot with enthusiasm? We have something special for you.

Here are the top 5 patriotic books from the veteran publishing house “marcobook“. These are the most popular books that Ukrainians have actively ordered and are still ordering. The publishing house was founded by veteran Mark Melnyk. We would like to introduce you to the veteran and a selection of his books.

Mark Melnyk is a participant in the Revolution of Dignity, an Azov volunteer, founder of the first frontline magazine, and vice president of the Kholodnyi Yar Historical Club. In 2016, the veteran returned to civilian life and founded markobook, one of the first veteran-run publishing houses in Ukraine. Later, he received a grant from the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation and is actively developing his own business.

The veteran himself notes that his books have completely different topics, but they are united by a victorious Ukrainian outlook. Melnyk’s books are read by soldiers in the trenches and even by General Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

“These books are aimed at supporting the morale and motivation of the military, first of all. We send them to various units free of charge. Each book sold on the publishing house’s website guarantees that another one will be sent to a military unit where there are people who want to be inspired by the heroic pages of Ukrainian episodes of war with the enemy,” says veteran and publisher Mark Melnyk.

So, choose, give, read and help Ukrainian defenders. Below is a selection of TOP 5 patriotic books from a veteran publishing house with personal recommendations from veteran Mark Melnyk.

The 30 Wars wiZ the Cursed Neighbour

By Yevhen Buket

This book tells in an interesting way about the thousand-year history of the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Russian invaders. It is illustrated and has QR codes that show video materials in a popular scientific form about these historical events. “The 30 Wars” is dedicated to the key personalities of the armed conflicts. Some of them are little known to the general public. The book has a significant number of discoveries for ordinary Ukrainians about our victory and military glory, rich history and victorious stories.

“The Islamic State: the Largest Battle of our Time”

By Oleksandr Korenkov

What about the desk book of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi? The publication was noticed on his desk. Since then, it has been a steady bestseller of the veteran publishing house.

“The Islamic State” talks about the Battle of Mosul, the largest military operation of our time, which has shaped the concept of warfare in the world for years, and possibly decades to come. For some unknown reason, this topic was not properly covered in the information environment of Ukraine and the world.

The book allows us to draw parallels between religious groups fighting in Iraq and linguistic groups in Ukraine, between which conflicts are artificially fomented by an external enemy.

With the support of the UVF, we have made a new edition of this book, which also regularly goes to the military and motivates them, so that every Ukrainian soldier feels part of the great liberation struggle, part of the great Ukrainian nation.

Ukrainian Nationalism. The Foundations of an Ideology

Edited by Oleh Odnorozhenko

This is a publication that I personally have wanted to publish for a very long time. The book contains abridged versions of the works of the founders of Ukrainian independence, ideologists of Ukrainian nationalism – Mykola Mikhnovsky, Dmytro Dontsov, Mykola Sciborsky, Yuriy Lypa, Yaroslav Orshan, Mykhailo Kolodzinsky, Oleh Olzhych, Dmytro Myron-Orlyk, Yaroslav Stetsko, and Roman Koval. Roman Koval is the only living author among them.

The book is illustrated with photographs of these people. Some of them are unique and have never been published before. The photos were restored by me using various image generators based on artificial intelligence.

This publication allows us to read the ideological concepts that created the basis for the existence of the Ukrainian state as an independent and self-sufficient one. The book allows us to look into the eyes of the people who created these foundations.

Infodemic

By Oleksandr Solonko

Infodemic” is about disinformation and its impact on the mass consciousness of society. It was written by a soldier who defended Bakhmut.

The book helps to teach us how to resist disinformation, which we are exposed to unconsciously or consciously every day. After all, russia has a firm grip on the Ukrainian information space, and it has influence on the European news and cultural space.

Therefore, this publication is a must-have in order to be aware and counteract information attacks.

The Noble Hearts

By Roman Koval

This book is about Cossack volunteers who died fighting for the Ukrainian state in 2022–2023: Oleh “Chornyi” Sobchenko, Yurii “Ruf” Dadak, Yulian “Beaver” Matviichuk, and Denys “Buk” Antipov. All of them participated in the commemorations of the heroes of Kholodnyi Yar in previous years.

Even after their deaths, they continue to inspire Ukrainians to win and give us a boost of energy to fight.

Monuments have been erected in Kholodny Yar in their honor and in honor of other fallen soldiers. “Now we can talk to our warrior ancestors on an equal footing,” these guys can say. Eternal glory and gratitude to them!

Happy Armed Forces of Ukraine Day!

A thin pixelated thread that unites the hearts of all Ukrainians at a distance.

A thin pixel thread that heals the wounds on the body of Ukraine and in the souls of people.

A thin pixel thread that sews together and returns everything that the enemies wanted to steal and destroy.

A thin pixel thread that covers the sky, protects the land, and protects Ukrainians.

We are a big pixel country that starts its new day with words of gratitude.

Gratitude for the new dawn, hope and faith, gratitude for the future, which is being fought for at the cost of heroism and the lives of the best sons and daughters of Ukraine.

There are not enough words to describe and say how deep and immense our gratitude is.

Every new day we live is thanks to you!

Thank you, Armed Forces of Ukraine!

Happy holiday, our country!

The UVF has launched an information campaign “The Path of a Veteran”

What is the path of a defender? What is the path of a veteran? It is not just a route traveled by one person, but a path that is measured by the support and compassion of each of us.

When a defender stands on the front line, they know that the nation is behind them, supporting their dedication and sacrifice. When a veteran returns from the front, their path continues in civilian life, where not only their own strength is important, but also the strength of the community ready to lend a helping hand.

This path should go round and round, when we all, as a part of society, support our defenders and veterans. We have to create conditions for their reintegration, help them with education, provide medical care and psychological support, and facilitate their participation in public life.

It is up to each of us to make this journey a success. By honoring and supporting our heroes, we not only thank them for their service, but also demonstrate the strength and unity of our nation.

Let us stand together at every step of their journey. Support and gratitude are our duty and honor.

Veteran Volodymyr Dovgan shared his own case that the UVF had supported

Volodymyr Dovhan is an ATO veteran and a pottery master. Together with his wife, the man is building a unique pottery called Dovgan-art in a village in the Kyiv region, where they will treat post-traumatic stress disorder.

“You work, you keep yourself busy, you develop, you hire people like you, you pay taxes — everyone benefits, absolutely everyone benefits.”

Thanks to their victory in the #VARTO competition program from the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, the couple plans to turn a small author’s workshop into a pottery art center.

In an interview, Volodymyr shared his thoughts on work, his life’s work and why employment and official employment are necessary for veterans and society.

The UVF team visited veteran businesses in Lviv region with a press kit

For two days, we journeyed around Lviv region and introduced veteran entrepreneurs to Ukrainian media journalists. All of them are winners of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation’s competition programs. The meetings were very sincere and inspiring. Let us tell you more.

🐊 Oleg Kashlyak and his veterinary clinic “Merlion”

The clinic is bright and friendly. Mr. Kashlyak takes care of dogs and cats, and in some instances roe deer or crocodiles (!). While serving in the military, he found time to take care of his four-legged friends. After returning to civilian life, he opened his own veterinary clinic. The UVF helped the veteran purchase new equipment — an ultrasound machine.

🛠 WoodBud construction company by veteran Dmytro Polishchuk

The color designer comes up with the shade, and the industrial equipment mixes the appropriate paint. This is just one of the popular services of the veteran’s company. All of them can be found on the website created with the funds of the UVF program. And WoodBud is easy to find on the map of veteran businesses from LUN and Uklon — http://surl.li/nsgaf

And it’s even easier to add your veteran business to the map.

🚌 Lubomyr Davydchak and traveling around Ukraine

Traveling in comfort and introducing the picturesque heritage of Ukraine to schoolchildren. This is the veteran’s dream, which he has turned into a business. He is waiting for a new comfortable bus, which he purchased with the funds of the UVF. He says that thanks to the funding, he has become competitive in the tourism market.

🥐 Yuriy Hrytsak and his family cafe CoffeeAnt

The locals describe the café as a homey place. They say we go to the ants. This is the highlight of the place — a colony of real ants in a huge ant farm. It is interesting for everyone, both kids and adults. And it’s also delicious! Because they treat you to hot tea and freshly baked croissants. The special stove was purchased at the expense of the reimbursement program from the UVF.

Isn’t it interesting? We are preparing new interesting stories and impressions for you.

Accompanying the journalists on the trip were Victoria Kostyk, Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Foundation, and Olesia Matsiutevych, a specialist of the UVF Communications Department.

We have completed the 2023 tour season. We will plan new trips for the next year. Stay with us and support veterans.

We are grateful to the International Renaissance Foundation for their support!

We thank everyone who went to the press tour with us Inter TV-Channel Ukrinform Espreso.tv Suspilne Novyny Channel 5, United News Marathon

Have you heard a lot about the legislation “On Veteran Business”? Would you like to understand it, but have not yet gone into details?

Then you should read the text by Taras Lelyukh. He is a veteran, an entrepreneur, and a winner of the #Varto contest from the UVF.

Taras briefly told us about the Legislation #10258 :
✅ what it provides for (goal, objectives, support, acquisition of the legal status of a veteran business)
✅ arguments in favor of adopting the legislation
✅ his vision as a veteran and business owner

🔗 Read Taras Lelyukh’s comprehensive and clear text on delo.uahttps://lnkd.in/gXtUpEME

“Veteran entrepreneurship is a mission that helps us, veterans, find a new place in society, feel needed and continue serving our country in peaceful life,” writes Taras Lelyukh.

The adoption of the legislation is a sign that the state is helping to meet the needs of the veteran community. It is a sign of respect and gratitude to those who defended us.

Oleksiy Logachyov is a three-time veteran of the Afghan war, the ATO/JFO, and Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. And without exaggeration, he is a “veteran” of the printing business.

His Veda printing house in Vinnytsia region survived the global crisis of 2008-2009, the Revolution of Dignity, and the coronavirus pandemic. The business is still operating in the face of a full-scale invasion.
Together with journalists, we visited his printing house and share the stories we heard.

Veteran Oleksiy Logachyov is a stubborn man in a good way. He applied for the #Varto contest from the UVF and did not pass. However, the expert council wrote down his mistakes in detail, and the veteran’s business received funding in the next competition #Varto 2.0.

The victory brought many benefits to the veteran’s cause:
🔹 Oleksiy purchased a printing machine that produces good prints and works quickly, computer equipment with a server for the internal network, and an air conditioner to provide climate control
🔹 the turnover of funds in the printing house has almost doubled
🔹 a veteran will find a replacement and receive a percentage of his business

It is said that a business is successful if 70% of its customers are regular. Oleksii has 80% of them.

How did the veteran’s business survive inspections and fines during the Yanukovych era?
Why do customers come back to the printing house, show the old, shabby sample and ask to repeat the work?
